FLOWER PBL

Shapes can be found in various forms around us. If we look closely at a flower, we can see the little nuances of colour, line and shape.
我们的生活中随处可见各种各样的形状。譬如当我们仔细观察一朵花时，我们就可以看到每一朵花在颜色、线条和形状的种种差异。
For students to develop an understanding how to observe a flower and recreate it through art, they became familiar with Artist Georgia O'Keeffe. Throughout her life, Georgia enjoyed painting shapes of flowers. Her paintings are unique in their own way, and her enthusiasm for art has inspired many around the world. To engage students' interest and understanding of Georgia O'Keeffe, we listened to the true story, Through Georgia's Eyes by Rachel Rodriguez
为了让学生了解如何观察一朵花并通过艺术对其进行再创作，艺术家乔治娅·奥·吉弗成为了孩子们的领路人——在她的一生中，乔治娅一直钟爱创作花卉。她的画作色彩艳丽，独树一帜。她对艺术的热爱也鼓舞了世界各地无数的人。为了激发学生对乔治娅·奥·吉弗的兴趣，更好的理解她的艺术表达，我们一起聆听了Rachel Rodriguez根据真人真事创作的故事《透过乔治娅的眼睛》。
关于 乔治娅·奥·吉弗
乔治娅·奥·吉弗（Georgia O'keeffe，1887-1986），美国20世纪初叶成名的杰出女画家，一生坚持以颜色为主导的创作理念。乔治娅·奥·吉弗的构图极简，但借着张力十足的色彩和精确的线条，巧妙地平衡了画面。宏伟却意象简单的花卉，是她画中常出现的主题，在她擅长的艳丽色彩包裹下，好似蝴蝶翩翩飞舞。
Once students had an understanding of Georgia and her style of art, they first chose their own photographs of favourite flowers on the table station. And then, they were encouraged to think about the challenge that awaited them: developing two pieces of artwork using different art mediums. The first task was for students to understand, explore and materialize.
当同学们了解了乔治娅和她的艺术风格后，首先，他们会选择一幅自己喜爱的鲜花照片，然后孩子们就会被鼓励去思考他们面临的艺术挑战：使用不同的艺术形式创作两幅花卉主题作品。整个PBL项目旨在鼓励学生在艺术世界里不断理解、探索，并进行创作实践。
In the first lesson, students used oil pastels on coloured sand paper. They created lines and shapes of the flowers they observed. Throughout this project they developed a better understanding how to draw lines and shapes on a textured piece paper.
在第一课中，同学们用油画棒在彩色砂纸上创作花朵。通过细致的观察，他们用各种线条和形状描绘了他们看见的花朵。在项目学习中，孩子们更好地理解了如何在一张有纹理的纸上绘制线条和形状。
In the second lesson, students used watercolours on watercolour paper. Their skills of using a paintbrush enhanced as they learned how much water to use for creating their colours of lines and shapes.
在第二课中，同学们开始用水彩画创作花朵。在不断斟酌“添加多少水能绘制出自己想要的线条和形状“的过程中，孩子们的控笔技能也在不断提高。
Through both lessons students learned the importance of understanding the challenges they faced, they understood what tasks had to be accomplished before the art piece was completed, and they materialized a piece of artwork through their own imagination and ideas.
通过课堂学习，同学们明白了首先了解清楚所面临的挑战的重要性；同时他们也认识到在进行艺术创作之前，有哪些前置任务需要先完成；然后，才是发挥自己的想象力，将脑海中的想法具象化的表达为一幅艺术作品。
艺术不仅仅是一种技艺
